IGP Disu Meets NBA Leadership, Pledges Deeper Reforms, Collaboration

The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing criminal justice reforms, strengthening professionalism, and deepening collaboration with critical stakeholders within the justice sector.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, made this disclosure on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The NBA delegation was led by its President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, and included prominent legal figures such as Abdul Mohammed, SAN; First Vice President Sabastine Anya; General Secretary Dr Drobolaji Ojibara; Chief of Staff Barbara Omosun; NBA AED Salamatu Sidi; Etaba Agbor; and Isaac Aduloju.

During the visit, the NBA President commended IGP Disu for his ongoing efforts to instil accountability and professionalism within the police force. Osigwe reaffirmed the association’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at promoting justice, upholding the rule of law, and improving service delivery across the country.

As part of the engagement, the NBA leadership extended an official invitation to the Nigeria Police Force to participate in the forthcoming NBA Annual General Conference.

Responding, the Inspector-General reiterated that the police force remains committed to constitutional policing, respect for fundamental human rights, and strict adherence to due process.

IGP Disu emphasised that sustained engagement between the police and the legal profession is vital to robust criminal justice reform. He noted that effective collaboration among stakeholders is critical to promoting public accountability, protecting citizens’ rights, and enhancing overall access to justice.
