The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, was on Thursday 22nd December 2022, bestowed with State Honours by the Ebonyi State Government for his dutiful performances and diligence in service. The award of Grand Commander of Ebonyi Hall of Fame (GCEHF) was bestowed on the IGP at the Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State by Governor David Umahi, CON.

The Governor commended IGP Baba for taking firm steps against the purveyors of violence and criminal elements in the State and the nation by extension. He appreciated the IGP’s services to the State in particular and humanity in general while noting his enormous contribution to the robust security being enjoyed in the state.
In the same vein, the IGP visited the Ebonyi State Police Command in the early hours of Friday 23rd December 2022, where he addressed officers and men on the need to redouble their efforts at ensuring the protection of lives and property, credible and professional policing with respect for the fundamental rights of all human persons. He charged the officers and men to shun corruption and all forms of illegality and inhumanity in the discharge of the Police’s Constitutional mandate while working with all stakeholders to ensure a safe and secure space in Ebonyi state during and after the yuletide season.
The Inspector-General of Police assured the leadership of the Command of his administration’s unalloyed commitment to extending required operational assets to the Command for seamless policing services. The IGP similarly addressed some concerns raised by the officers and men of the Command, assuring that their welfare is top priority for his administration even as he stressed that those who are due and deserving will be promoted according to the provisions of the law.
