Iran War: Nigeria Urges Restraint, Dialogue Amid Rising Tensions in Gulf Region

Nigeria has formally expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions in the Gulf region, calling for maximum restraint and immediate dialogue to prevent a further breakdown in security.

In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the Federal Government warned that the current situation poses potentially grave consequences for both regional and global stability.

Nigeria urged all parties involved to prioritise peaceful resolutions, emphasising the necessity of respecting sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law.

Furthermore, the government advocated for the protection of civilians and called on all actors to adhere strictly to the UN Charter and the Geneva Convention regarding the use of lethal force.

Positioning itself as a longstanding advocate for non-alignment and multilateralism, Nigeria expressed its support for renewed diplomatic efforts within established international and regional frameworks.
