Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested Mr. John Lyon alleged to be among kidnappers that had been terrorising Bayelsa State.

The 36 years old Lyon, described as a millionaire, who has been living an extravagant lifestyle in Abuja was said to have been arrested in Abuja.

The suspect, who is said to be from Bayelsa State is also alleged to be terrorising his own state. The suspect is said to be a former staff of Sterling bank.

It was further gathered that he was arrested after N70million ransom was traced to his account.

According to the police, the suspect is among the rich and powerful in Abuja and is also seen as a member of society’s crème la crème.

Lyon is also alleged to have been living a double life, posing as a businessman in daylight and kidnapping at other times. He has also been described as an extravagant spender at nightclubs.

While allegedly fielding questions from the police, the suspect said that he graduated from the University of Calabar.

The suspect while asking for clemency, told police that his wife just had a baby.

The Police said: “He was recently involved in the kidnap of one Danjuma, a bank staff where he and his men successfully demanded over N50 Million and have confessed to having committed the crime. Over N70Million found in his bank account.”

Following his arrest, many videos, where he was urging people to work hard so as to become as rich as him, have surfaced.  His affluent lifestyle, which he had repeatedly flaunted on social media, has once again underscored the fraud and lies inherent in social media.

The arrest of Lyon has caused Paul Okoye of PSquare to question why ladies date men without asking the source of their wealth.
