The case involving the alleged defilement of a 14-year-old girl by her blind father, Vitalis Chima, has progressed as investigations continue under the Lagos State Command.
On June 23, 2026, the matter was transferred to the Gender Unit at Ikeja G.R.A, where investigators visited the crime scene as part of their inquiries.
Three days later, on June 26, the case was charged to court at the Samuel Ilori Magistrate Court 3 in Ogba. The presiding magistrate ordered that the accused be remanded for thirty days pending further proceedings.
The matter has now been adjourned until September 24, 2026.
The Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN) has urged the Attorney General of Lagos State and the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to ensure that justice is not derailed, stressing that “nothing must go wrong this time around with the awaited DPP advice.”
