The Kano State Police Command has reported significant strides in crime prevention, management, and control, following intensified security operations across the state.
The announcement was made during a press briefing held at the Bompai Police Headquarters, Kano, where senior officers addressed members of the press on the evolving security landscape.
In line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, the Command has adopted community-centred, proactive crime prevention strategies ahead of the festive fourth quarter. Central to these efforts is Operation Kukan Kura, a comprehensive initiative aimed at curbing criminal activities and enhancing public safety.
According to the Command, Operation Kukan Kura has yielded remarkable results through community engagement, intelligence gathering, and the deployment of technology. Within the past month, the operation led to the arrest of 105 suspects across 30 major cases, ranging from armed robbery and drug trafficking to vehicle theft and thuggery.
One of the most notable achievements was the recovery of illicit drugs valued at over ₦82.7 million in Rimin Auzinawa Quarters, Kano. The recovered items—Tramadol and Pregabalin tablets—will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police expressed gratitude to the residents of Kano State for their continued support and cooperation, which he described as vital to the Command’s success. He reaffirmed the Police’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, maintaining law and order, and urged the public to continue providing credible information.
He also commended the press for their role in informing the public and emphasised the importance of collaboration in building a safer Kano State.
