Kebbi Police Neutralises Suspected Bandit, Arrests Two, Recovers 3 AK-47 Rifles

-

The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, has revealed that the Command under his watch has neutralised a suspected bandit, arrested two suspects and recovered three AK47 rifles.

Sani urged his men to continue to build on the euphoria of success. He also charged the personnel to deal decisively with bandits and other unscrupulous elements operating in the State, so that socio-economic activities can thrive.

The Kebbi State Police spokesman, a Superintendent of Police, Nafiu Abubakar, said the Command in its sustained onslaught against banditry and other heinous crimes in the State got information about bandits launching attacks and immediately swung into action.

He said bandits in large numbers on motorcycles, invaded Kurgeye village, Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State, and kidnapped Malami Danladi along with his son Bello Danladi.

Abubakar said: “On receipt of the report, a team of 36 PMF personnel on special duty in collaboration with a vigilante group of Nigeria swiftly responded and gave them a hot chase which resulted in an exchange of fire.

“In the process, one of the bandits was gunned down, while an AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine and one Bajaj motorcycle were recovered.”

Similarly, on the 3rd of September, 2024, at about 1:pm, a team of Policemen while on a joint patrol with a vigilante group of Nigeria, along Ribah-Kanya road,  intercepted and arrested one Alhaji Isiya Usman and Yunusa Yusuf, for being suspected of being bandits terrorising the area.

The Police spokesman said: “When searched, one K2 rifle and one fabricated AK-47 rifle with three magazines and sixty-six rounds of live ammunition were recovered from them.

“In the light of the above, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani commended their gallant performances and urged them not only to sustain the tempo but improve on it.

“The CP equally charged the Police personnel and other security agencies operating in the area to intensify synergy among them to decisively deal with the bandits and other unscrupulous elements for socio-economic activities to thrive in the state.

“Consequently, the CP has further directed them to transfer the arrested suspects and exhibits to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation and prosecution accordingly.”
