Kidnapped Victim Rescued by Enugu Police, Suspects Flee Scene

-

In a swift and coordinated operation, the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad of the Enugu State Police Command rescued a male kidnapping victim late on the night of October 19, 2025. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. at the Ozalla/Umueze axis of Nkanu West Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by the Command, the rescue followed a distress call reporting the abduction of the victim in the Awkunanaw area of Enugu. Responding promptly, police operatives pursued the suspects to the Ozalla/Umueze location, where the criminals abandoned the victim and fled the scene.

Recovered at the site were the victim’s Lexus 350 vehicle and a locally fabricated Beretta-style pistol loaded with three live rounds of ammunition. The suspects remain at large, and investigations are ongoing as authorities intensify efforts to apprehend them.

Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, praised the operatives for their professionalism and rapid response. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating criminal activity across the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and support law enforcement with credible information.
