Kidnappers storm victim’s residence, abduct him

Detectives attached to the Kebbi State Police Command have rescued Alhaji Adamu after suspected kidnappers stormed his home and abducted him.

One of the suspects, later identified as Angulu was gunned down. The police recovered three AK47 rifles, two fabricated Dane Guns, one locally made pistol, 47 AK47 live ammunition, and seven live cartridges.

The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Magaji Kontagora stated that on the 20th November 2022 at about 8:30 PM, a gang of kidnappers invaded the residence of Adamu of Laga village, Tsamiya District, Bagudo Local Government Area, attacked and kidnapped him.

“On receipt of the information, a team of Policemen swiftly responded, pursued the kidnappers, and engaged them in a gun duel. As a result, the victim was rescued unhurt and one of the suspects, Angulu was gunned down. However, Alti Abdullahi aka Altu of Sabon Gari village, Tsamiya District of Bagudo LGA, was also arrested in connection with the case. During the investigation, the suspect confessed to having committed the crime and mentioned his gang members, who are currently at large as follows: Dogo Bube, Chakari, Jabbi Daneri, and Shehu Tambaya. The suspect further confessed to have been responsible for the kidnapping of one Alhaji Ado of Sanji village and Alhaji Muhammadu of Tungar Gyado area of Sanji village all in Tsamiya District, Bagudo LGA, and collected the sum of N3,500,000.00 as ransom. The investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing gang members,” said Kontagora.

The CP explained that in another operation, policemen killed a suspected kidnapper.

Kontagora said: “On 20th November 2022 at 7:30 PM, a number of unspecified kidnappers invaded Laga village Tsamiya, Bagudo LGA, and attempted to kidnapped Alhaji Adamu of Laga. They fired three shots at him but he was not hit. The vigilante members succeeded and shot one of the unidentified kidnappers who died. His AK47 Rifle with breach No. LZ09119 was recovered alongside 24 rounds of live ammunition. Three empty shells of 7.62mm were also recovered at the scene of the incident. The investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing gang members.”
