Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 36-year-old man, Muyideen Olatunbosun, on suspicion of cultism, following an intelligence-led patrol in the Ikorodu area of the state.
According to the Command, the suspect was picked up while officers were conducting an anti-crime patrol along the Idi-Iroko, Ogolonto and Agric axis of Ikorodu, acting on intelligence gathered during the operation.
A search of the suspect reportedly led to the recovery of a rubber-made pistol, an axe, suspected criminal charms, and a quantity of an illicit drug commonly known as “Ice.”
Olatunbosun is currently being held in police custody and is assisting investigators with their inquiries. Police say efforts are ongoing to track down other members of his alleged cult group.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their vigilance and swift response to credible intelligence. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustained intelligence-led operations against cultism and other criminal activities across the state, and urged residents to continue sharing timely, credible information with the police.
