The Lagos State Police Command has shut down a suspected illegal factory in Badagry believed to be producing counterfeit alcoholic drinks, following a tip-off from members of the public.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, operatives raided the premises at Yafin, Badagry, and arrested 48-year-old Anaebo Emeka Hilary in connection with the operation.
A search of the site turned up adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, an assortment of wine labels, and equipment allegedly used to produce and package the fake beverages.
The factory has since been sealed off, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. All recovered items have been moved to the station as evidence.
Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, praised the officers involved for their vigilance and swift action, describing it as evidence of the Command’s continued commitment to intelligence-led policing across the state.
