The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another significant operational success with the arrest of two suspected armed robbers and the recovery of firearms and ammunition during separate intelligence‑led operations in Ajegunle and Ojo areas of the State.
Police said operatives of the Command Tactical Team, Thunder Blast, acted on credible intelligence about hoodlums who allegedly used commercial motorcycles while armed to dispossess members of the public. The team arrested Waheed Orelope, 27, in Ajegunle. “During preliminary investigation, one locally made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered,” SP Adebisi said.
In a separate operation, the Surveillance Team of the Ojo Division was deployed after reports that hoodlums had taken over the Iyana Iba Under Bridge area, posing a threat to commuters and residents.
That operation resulted in the arrest of Wasiu Shonibare, 29, from whom “one locally made pistol was recovered,” the police statement added.
Both suspects are in custody as investigations continue to determine their level of involvement and to identify other members of the alleged criminal gang. Further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reiterated the force’s commitment to public safety. “The Command’s unwavering commitment to proactive policing and the protection of lives and property across Lagos State,” he said, urging residents to support the police with timely and credible information.
