The Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) has congratulated the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force, Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, on his promotion to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
In a statement signed by its President, Olalekan Olabulo, the association described the promotion as well-deserved, citing Hundeyin’s professionalism, intellectual capacity, and performance in managing relations between the Police and the public.
CRAN noted that Hundeyin’s tenure as FPRO has been characterised by effective communication, transparency, and constructive engagement with the media, which it said has helped strengthen public trust and understanding of police activities.
“This elevation is a fitting recognition of ACP Hundeyin’s professionalism, intellectual depth, and outstanding performance in managing the critical interface between the Police and the public,” Olabulo said.
The association also commended the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for approving the promotion, describing the decision as a reflection of the police leadership’s commitment to merit and competence.
“The decision underscores the IGP’s commitment to merit, competence, and institutional excellence within the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement added.
CRAN further praised Hundeyin’s approach to information management, noting that he has consistently balanced operational sensitivity with the public’s right to information.
“ACP Hundeyin has distinguished himself through a strategic and responsible approach to information management, balancing operational sensitivity with the public’s right to know. His leadership has helped redefine police-media relations by championing openness, accuracy, and professionalism in security communication,” Olabulo stated.
The association described the promotion as a morale booster for officers across the Force and applauded the police leadership for rewarding hard work and integrity.
“This promotion serves as a tremendous morale booster for officers across the Force. It sends a clear message that dedication and performance are truly valued,” CRAN said.
CRAN expressed confidence in Hundeyin’s ability to excel in his new role and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force.
“We are confident that ACP Benjamin Hundeyin will bring the same commitment, innovation, and professionalism to his new rank and responsibilities. The association remains ready to sustain its collaborative partnership with the Nigeria Police Force in promoting responsible crime reporting, public enlightenment, and enhanced security communication nationwide,” the statement concluded.
