Lagos School Fence Collapses, Kills Two Persons, Another Battles To Live

Two persons were killed and another is currently battling to live following the collapse of a school fence in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State.

The affected people have been identified as Amaka, 30, Etim, 28 and Emmanuel 12.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the trio were walking past a fenced school during a rainfall when the fence suddenly crumpled and fell on them.

Although the victims were rushed to the hospital, the doctor however confirmed Etim and Emmanuel dead, while Amaka was fighting to stay alive in a hospital.

The Lagos State Police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed that the distress call concerning the incident was received on the 12th of October 2024, at about 10:30 am by the Ejigbo Police Division.

Hundeyin said: “A distress call was received at Ejigbo Division that the fence of a school located at Apano Street, Off Nurudeen Obe Street, Ejigbo allegedly collapsed and fell on three persons, viz one Amaka, 30,  Etim, 28 and Emmanuel, 12, all residents of the aforementioned area.

“This happened while they were walking home during the heavy rainfall. As a result, the victims sustained serious injury and became unconscious. They were rescued and rushed to Isolo General Hospital for treatment, where the said Etim and Emmanuel, were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

“While the other is receiving treatment at Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi. Based on the report, the scene was visited by a team of detectives from the division.

“The hospitals were also visited where the surviving victims and corpses were inspected and photographed. The corpses have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.”
