Twenty-three-year Promise Dogoh has been arrested by Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly swapping Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) cards, belonging to individuals at several ATM points and then stealing money from their accounts.

The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Grace Iringe-Koko said: “Luck ran out on the suspect on 22d April 2022, at ATM Gallery in Artillery, he swapped the ATM card of a victim and withdrew the sum of N 640,000, leaving the victim with nothing in his account. The frustrated victim reported the matter to Operatives of the State Command who promptly swung into action and arrested the culprit. He is currently helping the Police in the investigation and shall soon appear in court. The Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday, admonishes the good people of Rivers State to be wary of strangers at ATM galleries and desist from seeking assistance from them. They should rather approach staffers of the banks who can easily be identified should anything go wrong.”
