A suspect, Opeyemi Olufemi who was arrested in possession of a bag filled with money, has told the police that he stole it from a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).
While confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin said that the suspect was arrested on September 16, 2022, at about 4:30 PM, during a ‘Stop and Search duty along Igbara Odo/Akure Road.
Hundeyin stated: “The suspect was intercepted and arrested while riding a Bajaj Motorcycle with registration number TUN 560 UC conveying a school bag full of different denomination of naira notes. The suspect could not explain the source of the money nor give the correct amount of cash in the bag. He claimed to have broken into and stolen the money from the offering vault of a CAC church at Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State. Meanwhile, after sorting and counting, the total amount stuffed in the bag and recovered is N620,115. The suspect, his motorcycle, and money have been handed over to the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS).”
