Man Kills Brother with Rock Over Alleged Dream Attack in Oyo Community

-

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a man, Lateef Suleiman, for allegedly killing his elder brother in Sepeteri community of Oyo State after accusing him of attacking him in a dream.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, the incident was reported at the Ago-Amodu Divisional Police Headquarters in Sepeteri by a resident, Badmus Yunisa of Alegunlode Compound.

Olayinka said the suspect, 43-year-old Lateef Suleiman, allegedly attacked his 52-year-old brother, Mustapha Amidu, after claiming that the deceased had shot him in a dream the previous night.

“Acting on this claim, the suspect allegedly approached the deceased where he was seated, picked up a heavy rock, struck him on the head, and fled the scene immediately,” the police spokesperson said.

The victim was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri for treatment but was later confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.

Police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Amodu Division subsequently visited both the crime scene and the hospital as part of preliminary investigations.

The suspect was later arrested and reportedly confessed to the crime while cooperating with investigators.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

“The Command assures the public that justice will be pursued diligently and in accordance with the law,” Olayinka added.

The police also urged residents to contact the Oyo State Call Response Centre through the toll-free line 615 or the Command’s control room numbers in case of emergencies.
