Giving voice to the voiceless, eyes to the blind, ears to the deaf is why I want to be, a JOURNALIST. I want to be the best the world is yet to produce.
To unravel what seems to be hidden has always been my passion, thereby giving room for justice to prevail. It stands to reason that journalism goes beyond learning within the four walls of the classroom. But constant practice, good writing skills and editorial qualities is of great importance.
Above all odds, my motivation emanates from the success story of journalists who are in the system.
The likes of Cyril Abaku, Head of Research Desk at Television Continental (TVC); Abaku always encourage with his spoken words that uplifts the soul of a man by stating that patience, hard work together with God will take a diligent aspiring journalist to the top.
Another man of noble character is Tunde Osho, Deputy Director for News at TVC, who never gave up on my writings. He assisted in enhancing my write-ups likewise Dele Adejobi , my editor and educationist in the making; not forgetting Eric Osagie and Onuoha Ukeh, whose write-ups has also given me reasons to join the moving train.
Journalism is not for weaklings. This is simply because, the burden of the citizens to be updated on the happenings around them, rests on journalists. In essence, your time, efforts and sometimes money are needed in the effectiveness of this profession.
Journalism brings the government and the people together; knowing the mind of each other. I would love to relate with people by building a network of relationship with them through my discipline.
As someone who loves justice, I have thought and searched all over for a profession that is capable of silencing corrupt practices of some government bodies, I have found none that can do that to a satisfactory level than journalism.
I love the fact that politicians tremble at the mention of the word, ‘journalist.’
A profession that is unique in nature, carries a lot of strength; one that is worth boasting of and most especially, capable of revealing the ills of the society; to detect and amend faults.
A journalist is a good thinker. Besides, you are not the only one who is trying to get the attention of the public through your informative piece as such; you must be timely in meeting up with stories to avoid them becoming stale.
As one who likes traveling and getting information, I wouldn’t mind going extra mile to source for them. I have an inquisitive spirit and it’s helping to build my flare in journalism.
As the day goes by, I think of nothing but how to enrich myself with information. To become a better person, who will use all the acquired skills needed in journalism to reshape her world. In a nutshell, I want to learn how to write and be a journalist and impact my society positively through it.
