NAF Strikes Terrorists in AbbagaJiri, Paves Way for Ground Offensive in Timbuktu Triangle

-

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under the Joint Task Force of Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded a major operational success after carrying out a coordinated air interdiction mission against terrorist elements at AbbagaJiri in the Timbuktu Triangle.

The operation, which took place on January 8, 2026, targeted terrorist positions in the volatile axis of the Timbuktu Triangle, a known stronghold of insurgent groups in the North-East.

According to military sources, the precision air strikes effectively degraded the terrorists’ capabilities and cleared key routes, thereby creating a conducive environment for ground troops to advance and conduct follow-up operations in the area.

The successful air interdiction is part of sustained efforts by the Armed Forces of Nigeria to deny terrorists freedom of movement, disrupt their logistics, and support ongoing ground offensives aimed at restoring peace and security in the region.

Operation HADIN KAI continues to intensify joint air and ground operations across the North-East as security forces maintain pressure on terrorist groups and reinforce the protection of civilian populations and critical infrastructure.
