The Oyo State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to inter-agency collaboration following a courtesy visit by senior officers of the National Forest Rangers to the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna.
The visiting delegation, led by Assistant Conservator General (ACG) Muhammed, Senior Officer in charge of Ecology, and ACG Ojo Connilious Oladipo, in charge of Planning, Research and Statistics from the National Headquarters in Abuja, also included officers from the Old Oyo National Park.
During the visit, the Forest Rangers expressed appreciation to the Police Command for its swift and decisive response to the recent fatal attack on the Oloka Ranger Barrack. They noted that the prompt deployment of police operatives and reinforcements helped to prevent a further breakdown of law and order in the affected area.
ACG Muhammed commended the Command’s intervention, stating that continuous police presence and community engagement have reassured residents and restored calm in the communities impacted by the attack. The Rangers also pledged sustained cooperation with the Police to ensure a safe and secure Oyo State.
In his response, CP Haruna thanked the delegation for the visit and reiterated the Police Command’s resolve to maintain close collaboration with the National Forest Rangers and other security agencies. He emphasised that synergy among security stakeholders remains a core mission of the Nigeria Police Force, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
The Commissioner disclosed that investigations into the Oloka Ranger Barrack attack are ongoing, with forensic evidence already collected and intelligence-led operations yielding progress in identifying suspects. He added that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend all those responsible.
The Oyo State Police Command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting lives and property across the state.
