The Nasarawa State Police Command said it has recovered an AK-47 Rifle and a suspected stolen motorcycle.
The feat was achieved by officers of the Giza Division in the Keana Local Government Area.
On June 7, 2025, at about 4 p.m., the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, received credible intelligence regarding the movement of a suspected criminal transporting arms and ammunition.
Acting swiftly on this report, the Commissioner ordered a coordinated manhunt to apprehend the suspect.
In compliance with these directives, police operatives from the Giza Division mounted a strategic stop-and-search operation along the Giza-Kadarko Road. During the operation, a suspicious individual riding an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle was intercepted.
However, upon being flagged down for questioning, the suspect abandoned the motorcycle and fled into a nearby bush, evading immediate arrest.
A subsequent search of the abandoned motorcycle led to the recovery of the following items: one AK-47 rifle (Breach No. 0413), two magazines and 45 rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition.
This recovery, said the Command, strongly suggests a connection to criminal activity, and efforts are currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect and trace the origin and intended use of the recovered firearm and ammunition.
The Nasarawa State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and urges members of the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via our emergency contact lines.
