Nigeria Police Unveils Mascot for 2026 Police Games in Asaba

-

The Nigeria Police Force has officially unveiled the mascot for the upcoming 15th Nigeria Police Games, Asaba 2026, in a ceremony led by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.

Speaking at the event, the Inspector-General described the unveiling as a proud moment for the Force, emphasising that the mascot represents not just a symbol, but a renewed spirit as officers and athletes prepare for the Games. He highlighted the importance of sports in building a disciplined, fit, and community-connected Police Force, noting that the Police Games have become a symbol of unity and excellence, showcasing the best of the institution’s talent and character.

“This administration is intentional about raising standards,” Egbetokun said. “We are preserving our sporting heritage, and indeed, elevating it. A stronger Police Force begins with stronger officers, and that is why we invest in wellness, discipline, and mental readiness.”

The Inspector-General expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State for hosting the 2026 Games and for the support already demonstrated. He described Delta as a home of sporting excellence and expressed confidence that Asaba would deliver a Games worthy of the institution. He also commended the Delta Sports Commission and the Force Sports Planning Committee, chaired by AIG Fom Pam Joseph, for their commitment and contributions to the success of the event.

Unveiling the mascot, Egbetokun explained that it embodies the values of the Nigeria Police: courage, unity, fitness, and excellence. He announced the official identity of the Games, with the theme “Beyond the Badge; Excellence in Action!” and the slogan “Discipline, Dignity and Dedication!”

He stressed that these ideals would guide every athlete and officer, reminding them that they are not only competing for medals but representing an institution built on honour, service, and national pride.

The Inspector-General expressed optimism that the 2026 Police Games would set new records and contribute another strong chapter to the history of the Nigeria Police Force. “May this mascot inspire us beyond this ceremony, and may it remind us that true victory lies in service delivered with discipline, dignity, and dedication to the Nigerian people,” he concluded.
