Major General Nansak Danjuma Shagaya, the Corps Commander of the Nigerian Army Supply and Transport (ST), has lauded the 4 Special Forces (SF) Command for its “unwavering stance” and significant achievements in securing the nation.
The commendation was made during a high-profile familiarisation visit to the Command’s Headquarters in Doma, Nasarawa State, marking a significant moment in inter-corps collaboration.
During his remarks, Major General Shagaya emphasised that the success of combat operations relies heavily on robust logistics. He reiterated his mission to develop a highly proficient Supply and Transport Corps capable of meeting the Nigerian Army’s constitutional mandates.
“The Supply and Transport Corps, under my leadership, will continue to support the 4 Special Forces’ lift capability while playing other ancillary roles as the need arises,” Major General Shagaya stated.
He further praised the Special Forces for their “appreciable exploits” across various theatres of operation, noting that their successes are a testament to the discipline and bravery of the troops.
In his response, the Commander of the 4 Special Forces Command, Major General Olurotimi Azubuike Awolo, expressed deep gratitude for the visit, noting its historic nature.
“This visit is the first of its kind,” Gen. Awolo remarked. “It is the first time this Command has hosted a Corps Commander since I assumed office as Commander.”
Gen. Awolo highlighted the “pivotal role” the ST Brigade plays in the Command’s day-to-day administrative and tactical activities. To further this partnership, he revealed a new initiative to enhance the technical skills of his personnel.
“I recently inaugurated a Driving Course for soldiers, coordinated by the 79 ST Brigade,” Gen. Awolo added. “This is aimed at improving the driving proficiency of participants drawn from various Formations and Units within the Command.”
The Commander reaffirmed that the 4 SF remains committed to the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy, pledging that his troops will remain “focused, disciplined, and professional” in their duties.
The visit concluded with a formal briefing at the 79 ST Brigade led by Acting Commander Colonel Boniface Edibo, followed by a guided tour of the Cantonment’s facilities and a ceremonial exchange of souvenirs.
