The Nigerian Army has announced the opening of applications for its Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027, inviting eligible Nigerians to apply for commissioning as officers in the force.
In a statement released on Tuesday via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Nigerian Army said the SSCC programme is open to qualified civilians as well as serving military personnel who meet the stipulated requirements.
According to the statement, successful candidates who complete training and are commissioned will be posted to serve in the Combat Arms comprising the Infantry and Armour Corps — as well as the Combat Support Arms, which include the Artillery, Engineers, Signals and Intelligence Corps.
Prospective applicants have been directed to visit the official Nigerian Army recruitment portal at nashortservice.army.mil.ng, select the SSCC option, and follow the application instructions carefully.
The Army cautioned the general public to disregard any recruitment portals or announcements claiming to have opened applications before this official publication, urging applicants to rely solely on information released through verified Nigerian Army channels.
It further advised prospective applicants and members of the public to watch out for official recruitment jingles that will be aired on television and radio stations following the announcement.
The application window is scheduled to close on Saturday, 17 October 2026. Enquiries can be directed to the Army via the phone lines 07016874003 and 07047340295, available daily between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The Nigerian Army rounded off the announcement with its recruitment slogan: “Join the Nigerian Army. Serve the Nation.”
