Nigerian Army Rescues Two Kidnap Victims in Kwara Operation

-

Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North Central, operating under Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, have rescued two kidnap victims during a patrol operation in Kwara State.

The Nigerian Army disclosed on Saturday that the victims were rescued on June 3, 2026, by troops deployed at Patrol Base Babasango during an aggressive fighting patrol to Gidan Dogo Ekaa.

According to the Army, the troops encountered and secured the victims after they escaped from their kidnappers’ custody. The operation was conducted under Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, a security initiative aimed at tackling criminal activities and restoring peace in vulnerable communities across the North Central region.

The rescued victims were identified as 42-year-old Temitope Samuel and 40-year-old Mohammed Sani.

Following their rescue, the victims were taken into protective custody and transferred to Patrol Base Babanla, where they are receiving medical attention, psychological support, and other necessary assistance.

The Army said arrangements are underway to reunite the victims with their families.

It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through sustained intelligence-led operations under Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD.

The military also commended the troops involved in the operation for their professionalism and bravery, while urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts against insecurity.
