Nigerian Troops Choke ISWAP Supply Lines, Seize ₦37m

-

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully intercepted a massive cash haul and disrupted a major logistics supply chain.

https://securitynewsalert.com gathered that the operations, conducted on Monday, February 16, 2026, mark a strategic shift toward “logistics strangulation”, a method designed to cripple the ability of terrorist groups to sustain their fighters in the field.

Acting on actionable intelligence, Sector 1 troops alongside local Vigilante Forces laid a night ambush along a notorious transit corridor used by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements.

The insurgents, moving supplies from the Cameroon axis into Nigeria, walked into a tactical trap. According to Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for OPHK, the terrorists were met with “effective enfilade fire,” forcing them to abandon their cargo and flee in disarray.

A subsequent sweep of the area uncovered a “sizeable cache” of critical supplies. Military analysts suggest the loss of these materials significantly hampers the group’s operational reach and immediate combat readiness.

While ground troops secured the border corridors, personnel at the Chabbal Forward Operating Base struck a blow to the insurgents’ wallets.

During a routine stop-and-search, soldiers intercepted a suspicious vehicle carrying five individuals. A search revealed ₦37,000,000.00  in cash hidden in bags and Multiple mobile devices suspected to be used for coordinating attacks and financing.

The recovery is being hailed as a “significant breakthrough” in dismantling the clandestine financial networks that allow these groups to regenerate power despite battlefield losses.

These latest successes follow recent defensive victories in Pulka and Madara-Girau. The Military High Command has praised the professionalism of the troops, noting that the focus has now moved beyond mere engagement toward a total “tightening of the noose” on supply chains.

“Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in its mandate to frustrate terrorist ambitions and restore enduring peace and economic stability across the North East region,” stated Lt. Col. Uba.

As of Tuesday morning, troops maintain firm control over the affected areas, with mop-up operations ongoing to track the fleeing insurgents and identify further financial conduits.
