The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has pledged to partner with the Lagos State Ministry of Housing to strengthen estate and resident protection across the state.
This followed a courtesy visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Engr. Abdulhafis Gbolahan Toriola, to the Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, fnarc, at the Commandant’s office in Alausa on Wednesday, 9th September, 2026.
The visit was said to be in line with the housing policy of Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, which focuses on affordability, expanding the state’s housing stock, and easing rental payment burdens for residents.
Speaking during the visit, the Permanent Secretary called for adequate security for residents in estates across the various divisions of the state. He also sought the Command’s collaboration in identifying abandoned buildings scattered across the state, noting that such structures pose risks of insecurity, disaster, and other social vices.
Responding, the Lagos State Commandant, Mr Keshinro, assured the Ministry of the Command’s readiness to work with it.
“We will partner with the Lagos State Ministry of Housing to protect estates and residents,” Keshinro said.
He further affirmed that the Command would help identify abandoned houses and provide the Ministry with data to support government efforts to eradicate criminal hideouts and prevent building collapses and other disasters.
Following the meeting, the Commandant directed all Divisional Officers across the Command’s Areas of Responsibility (AoRs) to begin identifying abandoned houses within their respective jurisdictions.
