Ogun Security Chiefs Conduct Joint Assessment, Show of Force Along Ondo Border to Strengthen Anti-Crime Operations

-

The Ogun State Police Command, alongside other security agencies and government officials, has conducted a high-level joint operational assessment and show of force across the Ogun–Ondo border corridor as part of efforts to reinforce security and sustain the ongoing anti-crime campaign under Operation Kosaye.

The operation covered the Ogun Waterside axis, including Iwopin, Abigi and Ibiade, extending from Itele-Ijebu to the Ondo State border.

The assessment was led by the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, alongside the Security Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, retired Commissioner of Police Edward Ajogun, and other top security chiefs.

Other participants included the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brig.-Gen. J.O. Onu, the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Ogun State, R.A. Adelakun, the Ogun State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, the Commander of the Ogun State Security Network (Amotekun Corps), retired Brig.-Gen. Alade Adedigba, the State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo, and the executive chairmen of Ijebu East, Ijebu North East and Ogun Waterside Local Government Areas.

According to the police, the exercise covered strategic locations along the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway, stretching from Ijebu Ode through J2, J3, J4, Itele, Atoyo, Agerige, Ogbere, Ibiade, Iwopin and Abigi before terminating at Ajebandele, the boundary community between Ogun and Ondo states.

The joint team assessed critical and vulnerable locations along the corridor, reviewed the prevailing security situation, evaluated operational needs, and examined terrain and environmental factors affecting security operations in the area.

The exercise also strengthened inter-agency collaboration and provided an opportunity to engage stakeholders on intelligence gathering and community participation in crime prevention.

Police said the show of force was designed to reassure residents, commuters and other road users of the readiness of security agencies to protect lives and property, maintain security dominance in the corridor and respond swiftly to emerging threats.

The operation, according to the command, also sent a strong message that the Ogun–Ondo border remains under continuous surveillance through coordinated inter-agency security operations.

Speaking after the exercise, Ojajuni commended the cooperation among participating security agencies, government officials and other stakeholders.

“We remain committed to sustaining joint operations, strengthening intelligence sharing, leveraging modern policing technology, and deepening collaboration with communities to prevent crime and enhance public safety across Ogun State,” the commissioner said.

He urged residents to remain security conscious and vigilant by providing timely, credible and actionable information to security agencies.

“Effective security is best achieved through a strong partnership between law enforcement agencies and the public,” Ojajuni added.

The police advised residents to report emergencies or provide credible information through the Ogun State Police Command’s toll-free Gateway Shield line, 0800 000 9111, or its emergency numbers: 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, and 0708 497 2994.
