The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered a firearm and ammunition following a raid in the Sabo-Mokola area of Ibadan, the command announced Monday.
According to a press statement from the command, operatives from its Monitoring Unit acted on “credible intelligence” about armed robbery suspects operating from a hideout in the area. The team carried out a coordinated raid on the apartment in the early hours of the day.
Three suspects were arrested during the operation: Tomiwa Ayomide, 28; Haruna Kabiru, 32; and Haruna Hassan, also known as “Malo,” 32.
A search of the scene turned up one single-barrel, locally made cut-to-size gun and seven cartridges, police said.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigators work to determine their involvement in other crimes and identify any accomplices still at large.
The command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property in the state and urged residents to keep providing timely, credible information to support ongoing anti-crime efforts.
