Oyo Police Rescue Kidnap Victim Following Intensive Bush Search

-

The Oyo State Police Command successfully rescued a kidnap victim unharmed on Tuesday following a high-stakes tactical operation in the Ojongbodu area

The rescue was the result of a coordinated, intelligence-driven mission involving a multi-agency task force. According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the incident began when armed hoodlums invaded a local community, abducting a male resident and stealing two motorcycles and several mobile phones.

Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer for Ojongbodu mobilised a diverse team to track the assailants. This combined force included Police Operatives, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, members of the Amotekun Corps, and local vigilantes and hunters familiar with the terrain.

The Command utilised geolocation tracking and strategic intelligence to narrow down the suspects’ location. This sustained operational pressure reportedly disoriented the kidnappers, creating a critical window of opportunity for the victim to escape from their grip unhurt during the heat of the pursuit.

The victim, whose identity has been withheld for safety reasons, has been debriefed by authorities and safely reunited with his family. While the suspects managed to flee the immediate scene during the chaos, police confirmed that a manhunt is currently intensified to bring them to justice.

“The Command remains fully committed to the safety and security of all residents,” the statement read. “Robust measures have been put in place to prevent a recurrence, including intensified patrols and strategic deployments.”

The Oyo State Police Command is urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies. Officials emphasised that community-provided information remains a critical component in dismantling criminal networks within the state.

Residents can report suspicious activities or emergencies via the Oyo State Call Response Centre at the toll-free line 615, or contact the Police Control Room at 08081768614 and 07055495413.
