Police Launch Investigation After Fatal Truck Accident Claims Two Lives in Ibadan

-

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed a fatal road traffic accident involving a truck and multiple tricycles within the Ibadan metropolis, leaving two people dead and others injured.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said preliminary findings indicate that the incident occurred when a Mack truck belonging to Bovas Oil lost control while descending from the Beere area and crashed along the Oje Market axis.

“The accident resulted in the unfortunate death of a man and a woman, while two other persons sustained injuries,” the statement said. “Five tricycles and a Toyota Camry car were also damaged in the crash.”

According to the police, the truck driver, an adult male, fled the scene and is currently at large.

The Commissioner of Police in the state immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer of Mapo Division to coordinate response efforts alongside other security agencies.

“In compliance, the DPO mobilised to the scene, facilitated the rescue and evacuation of the injured victims to the hospital, ensured the removal of the deceased to the mortuary, and secured affected properties for safekeeping,” Olayinka added.

The Command said a full-scale investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the fleeing driver.

Police also called on members of the public to remain calm and support ongoing investigations by providing useful information. #Securitynewsalert.com
