Police Intercept Human Parts Trade in Ibadan, Pastor Among Three Arrested

-

The Oyo State Police Command has apprehended three men following the discovery of suspected human intestines during a routine patrol in the state capital.

The arrests, made public on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, have sent shockwaves through the community after it was revealed that the suspects include a local cleric and a pastor.

The breakthrough occurred during a proactive stop-and-search operation in the Adekile area of Agugu. Officers intercepted an unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle and, upon searching the passenger, discovered a package containing flesh suspected to be human remains. The passenger, identified as Oyategbe Joseph, was immediately taken into custody.

During a preliminary interrogation, Joseph admitted to sourcing the organs from an unidentified individual in the Oritaperin area. He further confessed to acting as a supplier for two specific clients: 46-year-old Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo and 55-year-old Pastor Ayodele Taiwo.

Following this lead, police operatives moved swiftly to arrest both the Alfa and the Pastor. Under questioning, both men reportedly confessed to purchasing the suspected human parts from Joseph. The specific motives behind the purchases remain under investigation, though the Command has emphasised that such acts pose a significant threat to public safety and health.

The Commissioner of Police for Oyo State has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Officials stated that a discreet and thorough investigation is underway to identify other potential members of the syndicate and the source of the remains.

DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Police Public Relations Officer, reiterated the Command’s commitment to ridding the state of ritual-related crimes.

He urged residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities, noting that community cooperation is vital for maintaining law and order. All three suspects remain in custody and are expected to be charged in court once the investigation is concluded. #Securitynewsalert.com
