Police arrest 9 persons for vandalism of electricity mast, recover two vehicles

The Anambra State Police Command today 16th of January 2023, stated that it has arrested nine people for vandalism of an electricity mast and recovered two vehicles from in another operation.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ikenga Tochukwu, while speaking on the arrest, said that the suspects all confessed to the level of their involvement in the act.

He added that they would all be charged to court, on the conclusion of the investigations.

He explained that on the 15th of January 2023, at about 3:AM, Police Operatives in conjunction with a Vigilante group and acting on credible information stormed New Site, Ikpo Urueze Land, Oba, Idemili south, where it arrested nine persons.

The suspects have been identified as Amara Nneji, 39, Kinsley Iwuozo, 50, Romanus Dim, 40, Abuchi Onuoha, 29, Chukwudi Eke, 39, Ikechukwu Eze, 44, Ukpe Monday, 40, Bartholomew Anugwueje, 45, and Ikenna Christopher, 28.

Tochukwu recovered a truck containing, seven welding machines, some irons, and other sophisticated equipment after they vandalize the Electricity Power line mast in the above-mentioned location.

“In a similar development, operatives while on patrol recover the following suspected to be stolen and abandoned vehicles. They are Lexus ES 350, black colour with registration number, Lagos AKD 495 HU and Toyota Camry, grey colour with registration number Lagos: JJJ 653 HW. Given the above, the Command invites anyone or group looking for any of the vehicles highlighted above, to come to the Office of the Command Public Relations Officer, Awka with valid proof of/evidence of ownership of such vehicles for verification and possible collection, please,” said Tochukwu.
