Police Arrest Four Suspected Bandits, Recover AK-47 Rifles in Kaduna

-

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested four suspected bandits and recovered a cache of firearms and ammunition in Kaduna State.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, the operation was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS).

Placid said the suspects  Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40) were apprehended on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area, following credible intelligence.

He disclosed that items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and a locally fabricated pistol with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are linked to banditry and other violent criminal activities within the region,” Placid stated.

He added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal network and recover additional weapons.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the commitment of the police to tackling banditry and ensuring the safety of lives and property nationwide. #Securitynewsalert.com
