Police arrest members of Burkina Faso, Black Axe confraternities

Tactical Operatives serving in the Anti-cultism Squad of the Enugu State Police Command, have busted groups of cult groups and arrested some suspects.

According to the state’s spokesman, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Daniel Ndukwe, said that the suspects were carried out in different operations in late February and early March 2023, leading to the arrest of  Ogbe Chekwube, 25 a.k.a Akpaka, a member of Burkina Faso Confraternity and Justice Uche, 21, a.k.a Aye Snow, a member of Black Axe Confraternity.

Also arrested are Ugwu Uchenna, 29 a.k.a Aro-School Boy, Nwoye Emmanuel, 28, a.k.a Aro-Mmiri and Eneh Chinedu, 24 a.k.a Aro-Emene, all members of Vikings Confraternity.

Ndukwe added: “Their arrest is a sequel to the receipt of a series of credible information and reports alleging the perpetration of acts of armed robbery, attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms, cultism and other criminal activities by the suspects. One English-made Pump Action gun, one locally-fabricated cut-to-size gun, one Bajaj tricycle, several phones and SIM Cards, two Bank’s ATM Cards, one NIN and Driver’s License were recovered from them. The suspects all confessed to crimes and have been arraigned in court and remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Custodial Centre.”
