Police Chief warns personnel against hobnobbing with criminals

The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf, in an effort to stem the tide of banditry, kidnapping and other related crimes, along with members of his management team met with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Commanders and other senior officers for an extensive lecture and in preparation to ensuring peaceful conduct of political activities in the 2023 general elections.

The number one policeman in the state, charged the personnel to ensure professionalism and commitment to duty.  He also warned them to desist from partnering with bandits or any criminal syndicate, otherwise, defaulters will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) a superintendent of Police, Mohammed Shehu, said that during the lecture, the CP informed officers and men on the commencement of campaigns and rallies and other political activities for the 2023 general elections.

He tasked officers, especially Area Commanders and DPOs, to ensure that all quasi-security outfits established by various state governments and local communities operating under different nomenclatures were banned from partaking in any electioneering campaign and other electoral processes as directed by the Inspector General of Police, as the outfits have no legal roles under the Electoral Act.
