The Enugu State Police Command has intensified its crime-fighting strategy following a directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa.
Speaking at the Command’s Monthly Strategic Security Conference held on February 10, 2026, at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess, Agbani Road, Enugu, CP Giwa urged officers to redouble their efforts in tackling crime across the state.
He emphasised the need for proactive, forward-looking, and strategic policing, building on existing frameworks to sustain law and order.
Commending the operational successes recorded in the previous month, the Commissioner charged officers to maintain momentum and ensure that criminal elements are decisively dealt with. He stressed that unrepentant criminals must be flushed out of Enugu State to guarantee the safety and security of residents.
CP Giwa also issued a stern warning to supervisory officers, reminding them of their responsibility to guide subordinates in the ethical and professional discharge of duties. He cautioned that any deviation from these standards would attract appropriate sanctions.
The conference brought together Deputy and Assistant Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of tactical and operational units, and other senior officers of the Command, underscoring the collective resolve to strengthen policing efforts across Enugu State
