The Oyo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the abductors of Bishop Reverend Aderogba of Jebba Diocese, Kwara State, his wife, and driver.

According to the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Superintendent of Police (SP), Adewale Osifeso, preliminary investigations had revealed that the victim’s car developed what seemed a mechanical fault while traveling from Yewa, Ogun State to Jebba, Kwara State enroute an isolated area along New Oyo/Ogbomoso Expressway.

The PPRO also explained that the abduction of the Bishop was reported to the command by Reverend Adekunle Adeluwa.

His words: “On 12th June 2022, at 10:PM, one Reverend Adekunle Adeluwa reported to the Command through an incident report at Atiba Divisional Police Headquarters, Oyo town that about 8:30 PM, one Bishop Rt. Rev Aderogba of Jebba Diocese, Kwara State in the Company of his wife and driver was abducted. The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations of the Command is in charge of the rescue operation that commenced on Sunday 12th June 2022.  All the tactical teams of the Command, Anti-Kidnapping squad, Ambush Squad, Puff Adder, Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), and Conventional Police personnel along with local hunters and vigilantes are all involved in the rescue operations.”

It was also gathered that a discreet investigation led by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) was simultaneously on to ensure that the victims were rescued unhurt.

Osifeso urged members of the public to report any suspicion to the nearest Police Division or provide credible and timely information, which could help in the ongoing operation.
