Pension scheme: Retirees, serving police personnel to protest at Aso Rock, National Assembly

Information reaching securitynewsalert says that Police pensioners are planning to carry a mega protest between the 3rd and 5th of May 2023, over their tiresome pension scheme.

Securitynewsalert further gathered the protesters will march to National Assembly and Aso Rock in Abuja, to register their grievances.

Serving Police personnel are also expected to join the protest.

A police source said: “The police are demanding that the federal government should exempt them from the contributory pension scheme (PENCOM) alongside the military, Department of State Services, National Intelligence Agency, and a host of others who have been exempted. On the 3rd of May, 2023, the protest will be at the National Assembly headquarters in Abuja. While on the 5th of May 2023, the protesters will be at ASO ROCK.

“Serving police officers will join the protest due to unpaid promotion arrears of 2017,2018,2019, and 2020 whereas their counterparts in the civil service under the same IPPIS have been paid and cleared of the arrears.

“The six months arrears of Salary increment from January to June is yet to be paid by the police authority and the IPPIS due to conspiracy. All members are hereby advised to be present.”
