Lagos CP orders probe into case of lady slapped for rebuffing love advances

-

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, said that the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, has ordered an investigation into the incident where a married lady was slapped because she rebuffed the sexual advances of a man in the Mushin area of the metropolis.

The lady, is in the middle of controversy for making two videos, one alleging how she was slapped by her admirer and the second video, where she claimed to have been misquoted.

However, emerging facts showed that the lady in question may have been intimidated and made the second video under duress.

Hundeyin said: “In view of emerging facts, @LagosPoliceNG Commissioner of Police has directed the Area Commander in that axis to immediately take over the case from the Police Division and do a thorough review of the entire investigation.”

A Twitter user said: “In the first video a woman alleges that she left her child at home and went to buy food. A man approached her on her way back and asked her to name her price.

“She told the man that she was married, but the man asked her if she didn’t need money and asked how much it would cost to touch her breast.

“She rebuffed the man at which point she alleges that the man’s boys slapped her. She said that other people in the area grew angry and challenged the man and his boys, but the man later brought some policemen to protect himself.”

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) had earlier shown interest in taking up the lady’s case but later slowed down because the victim came up with a second video claiming she lied.

Another person tweeted: “The woman later made another video in which she said that she misquoted the man, that he only complimented her and that it was the man’s boys that slapped her, not the man himself.

“The DSVA deleted its tweet and the spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Ben Hundeyin tweeted this.”

Olalekan Paul @lekanpaul, speaking directly to Hundeyin to alert to about the possible mischief of some police, shared a video with the PPRO, said: “Oga Ben, this was when she was invited to d station and was told to go do damage control. If you investigate well, she made the video you posted under intimidation. Also, the tone of investigating officer is unfriendly and a sign of intimidation and harassment.”
