The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the successful rescue of an abducted woman, Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The victims were rescued at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), three days after they were abducted.

Mrs Adegoke and her children were reportedly kidnapped on June 3, 2026, while she was driving the twins to school in Ibadan at approximately 7:30 a.m.

According to the police, the rescue operation was made possible through sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations that enabled investigators to track the movements of the kidnappers and locate their hideout.

During the operation, FID-IRT operatives engaged the suspects in a confrontation, resulting in two suspected kidnappers being fatally wounded. Security personnel also recovered two rifles from the scene.

The victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and other necessary support.

The Inspector-General of Police commended the professionalism, courage and effectiveness of the operatives involved in the mission, noting that their dedication and resilience were instrumental in securing the safe release of the hostages.

Meanwhile, security agencies have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who fled during the operation. Preliminary intelligence suggests that some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot injuries.

Police authorities said ongoing operations are focused on tracking down and arresting all those connected to the abduction.

The Nigeria Police Force also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation, support and patience throughout the rescue operation, reiterating its commitment to combating violent crime and ensuring the safety and security of citizens across the country. #Securitynewsalert.com
