Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Arrest Eight Suspects, Recover Cache of Arms in Kaduna, Delta

-

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded breakthroughs in its fight against kidnapping and arms trafficking, rescuing a victim, arresting eight suspects, and recovering a cache of arms and ammunition in separate operations in Kaduna and Delta States.

In Kaduna, police operatives rescued one Hussaini Ibrahim, who was abducted from Jagindi Tasha Village in Jema’a Local Government Area. The victim was abandoned in a nearby forest after operatives launched a coordinated rescue mission. Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of four suspects: Umar Yusuf Jabiri of Jagindi Tasha, Buhari Muhammad (a.k.a. “General”) of Bayya village, Ahmadu Nasiru of Gidan Waya, and Zakari Saleh. Recovered from the suspects were an AK-47 rifle and two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles.

In a separate operation, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit intercepted a suspicious waybill from Jos, Plateau State, destined for Gusau, Zamfara State. A search revealed an AK-47 rifle concealed inside a sack. Investigations traced the origin of the firearm to Kaduna, leading to the arrest of two suspects, Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa, who had arrived in Gusau to take delivery of the weapon.

Meanwhile, in Delta State, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), supported by the X-Squad and Buffalo Patrol units, raided a suspected kidnapper’s hideout along Ibusa Road. One suspect, Chiadiji Collins (a.k.a. “Smooth”), 42, who has been linked to several abductions across Ibusa, Ogwashi-Uku, and Asaba, was arrested. A search of his residence in Ewulu community, Aniocha South LGA, led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and 40 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. A second suspect, Ezechie Andrew, was later arrested with two pump-action guns and two live cartridges.

All eight suspects are currently in custody and assisting investigations. They will be charged in court upon the conclusion of inquiries.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the operatives for their professionalism and tactical precision, describing the operations as evidence of proactive intelligence-led policing. He reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to staying ahead of criminal networks through intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration, and community engagement.

The IGP also urged citizens to remain vigilant, provide timely information, and support the police in its efforts to combat crime and ensure public safety.
