Police Rescue Six Kidnap Victims in Kebbi State

-

The Kebbi State Police Command announced a breakthrough today in the fight against banditry and kidnapping, reporting the successful rescue of six kidnap victims following a fierce gun battle in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

The operation, which took place on November 2, 2025, led to the rescue of the victims just hours after they were abducted.

The incident began around 4:00 PM on November 2nd, when a gang of approximately twelve heavily armed bandits invaded Ukuhu, Tungar Wazga, and Unguwar Chiroma villages, kidnapping a total of ten people.

Acting on a credible lead, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Danko swiftly mobilised a combined force of Policemen and local vigilantes. The security team pursued the hoodlums and managed to block their escape route at Marina village, which borders Zamfara State.

The confrontation quickly escalated into a fierce gun duel, according to the police press release. The aggressive action by the security forces compelled the bandits to abandon some of their captives and flee into the Zamfara forest, potentially with gunshot injuries.

Six male victims were successfully rescued unhurt during the operation. They are identified as: Abubakar B. Abubakar (25), Nasiru Magawata (18), Abdul Magawata (15), Buhari Ukuhu (17), Kamalu Magawata (12) and Naziru Magawata (11).

All victims, residents of the affected villages, have been medically examined and reunited with their families.

The Command stated that search and rescue operations are being intensified to locate the remaining four kidnapped victims and ensure the apprehension of the fleeing culprits.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, highly commended the DPO Danko and his team for their swift response to the distress call, professionalism, and bravery.

CP Sani affirmed the Command’s “unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property” in Kebbi State. He also used the opportunity to reiterate the importance of public-security collaboration, urging citizens to continue providing timely, vital, and accurate information to assist in crime prevention and prompt response to security threats.
