PSC Alerts Applicants to ₦15,000 Recruitment Scam, Reaffirms Police Application is Free

-

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has issued a stern warning to the public following reports that cyber café operators and fraudulent agents are extorting job seekers applying for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

According to a statement released on Monday by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, the Commission has become aware of illegal charges ranging from ₦15,000 to even higher amounts being collected from unsuspecting applicants.

These fraudsters reportedly claim that the fees are required for remittance to the Commission and other government authorities to facilitate the recruitment process.

The PSC categorically debunked these claims, emphasising that the entire recruitment exercise is absolutely free of charge. Officials clarified that no payment is required from candidates at any stage of the application, screening, or selection process.

To avoid falling victim to these scams, the Commission strongly advised prospective applicants to handle their registrations personally. Candidates are urged to visit the official recruitment portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng to submit their details directly rather than relying on third-party intermediaries who may seek to exploit them.

The Commission further warned that anyone caught engaging in these fraudulent activities will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. In a bid to maintain the integrity of the exercise, the PSC encouraged applicants to report any demands for money to the nearest police station. Additionally, reports can be made directly to the Commission via SMS or WhatsApp at 07054992071.

Reaffirming its dedication to a fair selection process, the PSC stated that it remains committed to ensuring the recruitment remains transparent, merit-based, and accessible to all qualified Nigerians.
