PSC, Police Extend Constable Recruitment Deadline by Two Weeks

-

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced a two-week extension of the ongoing recruitment exercise for 50,000 police constables.

The application portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will now close on February 8, 2026, according to a statement issued on Monday by the PSC.

The extension followed the receipt of over 400,000 applications nationwide and a subsequent review that revealed significant disparities in participation across states. While states such as Adamawa, Benue and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applicants, others, including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Anambra, posted comparatively low figures.

The PSC explained that the decision to extend the deadline was aimed at ensuring equitable representation from all parts of the country in the recruitment process.

“All eligible Nigerians, particularly those from states with low application numbers, are strongly encouraged to apply through the official recruitment portal,” the statement said.

Applicants are required to submit their applications via the PSC portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng before the new deadline.

The commission also called on state governments, local government councils, sociocultural organisations, religious bodies, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders to intensify efforts in mobilising and sensitising qualified candidates within their jurisdictions to take advantage of the extension.

Reaffirming its position, the PSC, alongside the Nigeria Police Force, assured Nigerians of its commitment to a fair, transparent and merit-based recruitment process.
