Commissioner of Police, Kayode Ojapinwa, on Monday, January 26, 2026, formally assumed duty as the 33rd Commissioner of Police in charge of the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos, following the retirement of CP Rose Chollom Dung.
Upon resumption, CP Ojapinwa inspected a guard of honour and was received by the PSFU management team, officers, men and women of the Unit, as well as key stakeholders.
CP Ojapinwa hails from the Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Ibadan and was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Over the course of his policing career spanning more than three decades, CP Ojapinwa has undertaken several professional and investigative courses, including the Advanced Detective Course and CPTU, among others. His experience covers investigation, operations and administration.
He has served in various strategic capacities, including Unit Commander, Mopol 18 Squadron, Owerri; Divisional Police Officer at Mushin, Alakara Itire and Trade Fair divisions in Lagos State; Area Commander, Gboko, Benue State; Commander, 58 Squadron Police Mobile Force, Lafia; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Counter Terrorism Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja; and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, FCT Police Command, Abuja. Until his latest posting, he was the Commissioner of Police, Special Protection Unit, Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.
Addressing officers and men of the Unit, CP Ojapinwa charged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and intelligence-led policing.
He expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, for the opportunity to serve, assuring that he would discharge his duties with diligence, fairness and integrity.
The Commissioner of Police also called on members of the public and relevant stakeholders to continue supporting the police in the fight against crime, pledging that fraud-related offences would be tackled with strict professionalism.
