The Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and Other Security Agencies (PSNAFSA) has condemned the killing of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah and other soldiers by suspected terrorists on the Damboa Military Base in Borno State on April 8, 2026.

In a statement issued by the Convener of the group, Ms Mary Abayomi, PSNAFSA described the attack as “heinous and cowardly,” noting that it underscores the grave dangers faced daily by Nigerian servicemen and women in defence of the nation’s sovereignty.

PSNAFSA extended its deepest condolences to the families of the fallen officers, stating that the loss is both painful and irreplaceable.

The group also prayed for strength for the bereaved families and eternal rest for the departed soldiers.

“We share in their grief and stand in solidarity with them in this moment of sorrow. No words can truly fill the void left behind,” Abayomi stated.

The organisation paid tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the slain soldiers, describing them as patriots who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation.

It also honoured all members of the armed forces who have lost their lives since the onset of insurgency in Nigeria.

PSNAFSA acknowledged the efforts of the Nigerian military in combating terrorism over the years, noting that significant progress has been made in dismantling terrorist camps and neutralising key operatives.

However, it warned that the persistence of attacks underscores the need for renewed and coordinated strategies.

“The time to act decisively is now,” Abayomi stated, calling for a stronger national response to curb ongoing attacks on military personnel.

The organisation further urged the Federal Government to identify and prosecute sponsors of terrorism, while taking firm steps to dismantle financial and logistical support networks aiding insurgent groups.

It also stressed the need to block channels through which arms and ammunition are trafficked into the country.

Emphasising that national security is a collective responsibility, PSNAFSA called on Nigerians to support security agencies through vigilance and intelligence sharing within their communities.

“Only through a united front can we restore lasting peace and security in our nation,” said Abayomi.
