….Security experts warn of potential risks to lives and intelligence operations
There has been widespread criticism on social media following the alleged public circulation of photographs of recently dismissed operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), a user identified as OurFaveOnlineDoc condemned the move, describing it as “reckless and dangerous.” The user noted that DSS officers are intelligence operatives who work largely undercover, making the exposure of their identities a potential national security threat.
“How can you sack them and then allow their pictures to litter the internet? Imagine what the criminal underworld can do to them and their families,” the post read.
The commentator further warned that some of the affected officers may have been involved in high-level investigations into terrorism and corruption, and could now face retaliation from powerful interests.
“Someone who has investigated terrorism and corruption at high levels, maybe even gotten some big guys into jail. Then you sack him and post his picture publicly. By next week, when he goes missing and his body is found chopped up in a canal, we will wonder how and express shock,” the post continued.
Expressing frustration, the user questioned the apparent lack of professionalism and discretion within government institutions: “Why is there so much insanity and incompetence at the highest levels of almost all our national institutions? Who did this thing to us?”
Security analysts have echoed similar concerns, warning that exposing the identities of intelligence personnel not only endangers their lives but could also compromise ongoing and future operations.
As of the time of this report, the DSS has not issued an official statement regarding the alleged leak or the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of the officers.
