The Young Nigerian Rights Organisation (𝗬𝗡𝗥𝗢)and its Lead Activist, 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐣𝐞𝐢 (popularly known as Wong Box Nigeria), have announced plans to sue the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (𝐏𝐏𝐑𝐎), 𝐒𝐏 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐄𝐝𝐚𝐟𝐞, and the Delta State Police Command over what they described as a deliberate fabrication and orchestrated attempt to criminalise the activist.
On the day of the alleged “𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐭” post, Comrade Ojei was physically present in the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (𝐀𝐂𝐏), State Intelligence Department, alongside both the 𝐀𝐂𝐏 and the 𝐏𝐏𝐑𝐎, while waiting for the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Administration. Shockingly, while he was present with senior officers, SP Bright Edafe went online to publish a fabricated post falsely claiming that there was a manhunt for Wong Box Nigeria also known as Comrade Victor Ojei.
“This was not only false, but a calculated attempt to damage my reputation, integrity, and standing in society,” Comrade Ojei said.
The Activist and his organization have vowed to take legal action by first issuing a Pre-Action Notice against the Delta State 𝗣𝗣𝗥𝗢 and Command, with a full lawsuit to follow at the Federal High Court to enforce his fundamental rights and claim damages for defamation.
The group further described the actions of SP Bright Edafe as unprofessional, unbecoming of a police officer, and consistent with his pattern of police misconduct, noting that he has often personalized matters because of past criticisms against his office for alleged brutality and abuse of Delta citizens.
They also raised concerns about corrupt practices in the Delta State Command, alleging that the DCP Administration mishandled petitions lodged against the 𝗣𝗣𝗥𝗢 and a Divisional Police Officer, contrary to proper procedures. According to the Activist, petitions are wrongly being transferred from the Commissioner of Police’s office to divisions, which is outside due process and a practice that must be investigated.

Comrade Ojei further stated:
“We will continue to expose these corrupt practices and call for accountability. Nigerians deserve a Police Force that upholds the law, not one that manipulates the truth to destroy reputations.”
The group confirmed that additional revelations on misconduct and corrupt practices by the leadership within the Delta State Police Command will be formally presented to the IGP in due course.
