Operatives of the Rivers State Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers, who allegedly raped a pregnant woman during an operation in the state.

The suspects were identified as Saviour Gbarale, 24, and Onyedikachi Uhala, 18.

The police said that both suspects were arrested at Etche Street Borikiri, Port Harcourt City, Local Government Area by operatives of C4i Intelligence Unit of the Command.

Julianafrancisnews.com gathered that the suspects specialised in housebreaking and have been linked to a series of recent armed robberies in the Port Harcourt metropolis and environs.

The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko said: “Investigations also revealed that the suspects also raped and sexually abuse a pregnant woman in the cause of their nefarious operations.”

Also, on 24th July 2022, Operatives of  C4i Intelligence Unit, while on routine anti-crime patrol along Eleme road junction, ran into a gang of armed robbers.

“The Police operatives engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel. The duos were subdued by the Police’s superior firepower. One Victor Okona, 23y and one Onuoha John Odinaka aka Precious, 22, were arrested while others escaped with various degrees of injuries,” said Iringe-Koko.

One American Revolver pistol with breech no. 134581and a motorbike with Reg/No BGM 74VL were recovered from the suspects.

The image further stated: “Operatives of Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command, while on normal patrol at  Teke Sogo in Tai Local Government Area, sighted an Ash colour Honda Odyssey Bus without a registration number plate,  with six occupants. On sighting the Police, the motorist zoomed off at high speed. The Police team gave them a hot chase to ascertain who they were and why they took off at the sight of the police. The occupants, after a long drive, abandoned the vehicle and ran into a nearby bush at Teke Sogo Tai. The abandoned Honda Odyssey bus without Reg/No. was recovered and towed to the station. A search in the car led to the discovery of Four PVCs, bags of substance suspected to be cannabis, a jackknife, a plier, machetes, and face masks, among others inside the abandoned vehicle. The Command has commenced full investigations towards identifying and apprehending the occupants of the vehicle.”
